July 22, 2011 - The Man in Denim


Does anyone ever find it a little strange that one of the most popular children's characters of all time is a fuzzy green creature that spends most of his time in a garbage can, and rarely, if ever, says anything remotely positive? Nah, me neither. Oscar seems like a pretty cool dude. (Especially compared to Big Bird, whose appeal I will never truly understand.) However, the Man In Black, or in this case, the Man in the Canadian Tuxedo, is one fella whose coolness is undeniable. Seriously, have you ever seen anyone pull off a denim shirt quite like that? Mr. Johnny Cash is also probably the only popular musician who could consistently turn children's songs into popular music. Of course, that was when he wasn't busy writing songs about fire or prison...
