February 26-27, 2011 - fresh weekend SHEEN knowledge

Today, we look into the wonderful career of legendary actor Carlos Estevez, aka Charlie Sheen, and we try to search for some clues that should have tipped us off that maybe he was headed in the wrong direction. Let's take a look at what we found...
major league
Sheen, of course, plays Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn, formerly of the California Penal League turned Cleveland Indians star pitcher. We can only hope that Sheen follows up his latest stint to rehab by reviving the sports scene in Cleveland.
ferris bueller's day off
In a role he's all too familiar with by now, Sheen played a man at the police station under arrest for some type of narcotics offense. Not surprisingly, he nailed the role.
hot shots
Our first glimpse of Sheen's impeccable natural comedic timing may have been the point where Sheen really started blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.
wall street
He plays Bud Fox, an aspiring investment mogul in the 1980's. Obviously, this character ends up in jail for illegal business activities, and was probably pretty deep into the world of drugs and crazy 1980's sex with Darryl Hannah.
major league ii
Ricky Vaughn sells out his bad boy image and goes mainstream. I guess it's really a lot like when he started doing sitcoms.
hanes commercial
Michael Jordan was arguably the best basketball player of all time. Charlie Sheen is arguably the best severely drugs/sex/everything-addicted actor of all-time. So, it was an obvious pairing to sell t-shirts, right?
lucas
There was a time when Sheen was so innocent and clean cut that he could play the noble, honorable, leading man...you know, the star football player who gets the girl type of role. In another surprise twist, thanks to Corey Haim, Sheen was not even close to being the most troubled actor in this movie.
red dawn
In one of his first roles, Sheen played one of the small group of teens who puts down a Communist Soviet uprising in America. Easily the most ridiculous movie he's ever done...and I'm including Hot Shots! and Hot Shots! Part Deux.
men at work
Playing a garbageman alongside his brother Emilio Estevez...a reality that might not be too far off in the distant future?
the chase
Sheen plays a desperate fugitive, who hijacks a hot young Kristy Swanson, and falls in love with her during the ensuing police chase...maybe Sheen has been under the faulty assumption that this is what happens when you get in trouble with the law?

  1. Alas, how true to life that Hanes commercial really was. Strike that. He was waaaay to coherent. Man, what a hot mess this guy's become. And to think I lusted for him after seeing Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Funny how it was one of his first screen roles and he was already protraying a drug addict.
