December 20, 2010 - College Women Go Streaking

uconn women's basketball streak
Really Short Story: Something about women's sports…
Short Story: If you're like me, you might be surprised to learn that the UConn women's basketball team has ever lost a game. However, as recent news reports would indicate, they've only actually won 88 games in a row, which would happen to exactly match the streak of the UCLA men's basketball team of the 1970's. Now, we could sit here and argue about whether or not the streak is impressive considering it was done by a women's team, but that would just be silly, because it's just not nearly as impressive. However, given that the goal of sports at the college level is to be better than your competitors, I suppose we have to show some respect for the fact that this women's team has done exactly that, and done it very well for a long time now...even if we never watch a game they play.
david cook
December 14, 2010: david cook Day! - Contrary to his last name, he is a popular musician, and not a chef.
WHY?: David Cook is, of course, the winner of one of the more recent seasons of American Idol. While he has yet to reach the levels of success attained by the likes of Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daugtry or Carrie Underwood, he has only released one post-Idol album, and there is still plenty of time for us to judge his musical career. Cook seems to have lead a pretty normal life otherwise, with no previous marriages or children out of wedlock, he was raised in a two-parent home, and once gave up a home run to Albert Pujols at a high school level baseball game. We can only hope he can find some controversy to spark his career in the near future.

TOMORROW'S contenders:
joe paterno - The world's oldest man happens to be a very successful college football coach.
florence griffith-joyner - Known as Flo-Jo, only because Flo-Griff-Jo was a little lengthy.
samuel l. jackson - Known for his unique delivery and vital roles in films such as Pulp Fiction and Snakes on a Plane.
lunar eclipse
If you hate the moon, well, then, tonight is a big night for you, because there's going to be a total lunar eclipse, visible in all of North America (clouds permitting.)
2011 predictions…from 1931
The predictions were actually very vague and didn't involve hoverboards or robots as servants.
seagull steals donut
This video could also be titled, "A Bunch of Idiots on a Boat."
ozzie guillen commercial
I don't know exactly what it is that Ozzie is selling, but I think I'd like to buy it.
another sideline tripping controversy
I'm still not convinced that this one was intentional…maybe the guy was just getting up to watch the play?
