November 20-21, 2010 - fresh weekend BAD FOODS knowledge

Last week we addressed the world's best foods, so this weekend, it's only fair that we discuss the world's worst foods. Don't get offended if one of your favorite foods is on the list...it's just an opinion...a valuable, well-informed opinion, but still just an opinion.

hot dogs
If you're making a case to become a vegetarian, the conversation should start and end with hot dogs. They can be super-tasty, which makes their unknown origin and production process all the more despicable.
liquorice
No offense, but I'm nearly convinced that having tastebuds that like liquorice is some kind of weird genetic flaw.
peas
Listen, I support vegetables of all kind, but peas just cross the line. Plus, they are so small that you have to eat millions of them to even recognize any nutritional benefit. No thank you.
olive loaf
I hate olives. I hate loaf. Put them together, and the end product is twice as gross. Not that I have ever, or will ever eat this product.
cottage cheese
Of all the things you could possibly create from dairy products, nothing is worse than cottage cheese. I think it got it's name because it tastes like milk that has been left in a cottage all summer.
imitation crabmeat
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery...but the whole concept of imitating seafood is enough to make me feel a little nauseous. I can only imagine how crabs feel about this stuff.
cotton candy
Don't get me wrong, I had a few cotton candies as a kid. It's probably one of my biggest regrets in life.
beets
I feel like pulling a beet out of the ground might be fun...but one taste makes you want to put it back in the ground forever.
lettuce
A bowl of lettuce is almost as good as an air salad...but has less nutritional value.
rice cakes
If you've ever wondered what cardboard tastes like, try a plain rice cake. Cardboard tastes a little better.

world's WORST food
RicoSwaff says celery...
The more I think about it, the more I agree. It's just like a crunchier form of lettuce.
MyTwistNews says anchovies...
A lot of people out there strongly dislike these salty little bastards.
tershbango says bananas and/or ketchup...
It seems like you have three choices with these two items: you love them, you hate them, or you love them together.
whitetrash says bologna...
I don't know who invented this stuff, or what is made from, but it is a disrespect to real sausage products everywhere.
Agit8r says tuna + noodles...
Actually, tuna is probably the only fish that gets progressively worse the more you cook it and prepare it.

  2. Okay my dear, you need to come over to london and try a pie and mash shop. The pie is minced lamb and eel topped with mash potato, the gravy is made of eel liquer and chopped parsley.
I have NEVER tried it (not a Londoner) but no many who rave about it. UGH!!!!!!

from your list I would never eat hot dogs as they are just processed fat and salt, however, I LOATHE liquorice - ugh.

  3. The headline shouldn't be "World´s worst food". Maybe its the worst you can get in the USA. But if you tasted the Swedish dish "Surströmming", you would appreciate a delicious hotdog.
Surströmming is rotten fish in a can. It is a northern Swedish dish consisting of fermented Baltic herring. Surströmming is sold in cans, which often bulge during shipping and storage, due to the continued fermentation. When opened, the contents release a strong overwhelming smell, which explains why the dish is often eaten outdoors. Sometimes the can can explode.

Sorry, didn't vote. Don´t think your top 10 list is bad enough to be one of the worlds worst foods.
